Ball Valves (Λ Port)

Disc of the ball valve has a spherical shape, and a cylindrical channel (ported) is provided in the center to allow fluid to pass through. This spherical disc opens and closes by rotating it 90 degrees.
JIS terminology: Ball Valves

Ball Valve

  • 1)Disc (ball) is spherical and a soft seat is incorporated into the valve seat of the body, similar to a cock.
  • 2)When the lever handle type is used, the fluid can be stopped or flown by turning the lever handle 90 degrees. Note that the larger the size, the larger the force is required to open and close, so the gear handle can be operated.
  • 3)Excellent airtightness is obtained from the mechanical and physical properties of soft seat materials. However, there are restrictions on the use of high-temperature areas. Suitable for “on/off operation” using open or closed operation with common soft seat. It is not suitable for use at intermediate positions, depending on the construction or material of valve.

Λ Port Valves

Disc has an edge-shaped lambda character and uses a metal seat to control the flow rate at the intermediate opening and valve structure that allows closure while cutting contaminants in the fluid. It is suitable for controlling special fluids such as paper pulp, slurry, and viscous fluids.

●Λ shaped edge cuts out any inclusion

Cutting fibers and solids depends on sliding between disc (metal) and seat (metal). If fibers such as pulp are contained in the fluid, ball valves, for example, will become clogged when closing, which will cause maintenance-related problems. However, in the case of lambda port valves, the metal edges are closed while cutting contaminants so that they are not blocked. The body has a flange structure and does not require special tools for disassembling and assembling, so it is easy to maintain.

●Stable operating torque and resistant to piping stress

The body, body cap, and seat are each constructed to have a metal touch, and are structurally resistant to external forces such as pipe stresses. Stem bearings with a small coefficient of friction are also used, so the operating torque is light and stable.
